EXCELLENT Based on 18 reviews Posted on Google MadxxxTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommended! As a family of four (children aged 1 and 5), we spent three months traveling through New Zealand in a Northstar slide-on camper. We deliberately chose the four-wheel-drive camper setup so we could reach any place in New Zealand we wanted to go. We weren't disappointed! Whether it was a sandy beach, a rough gravel road, or a river crossing, our setup took us to the most remote, secluded, and breathtaking spots in New Zealand. The camper is definitely worth the money! Northstar's years of experience are evident in the conversion and equipment. Every inch is used efficiently and thoughtfully, and high-quality materials are used throughout, ensuring many years of camping enjoyment. Whether it was mosquitoes on the North Island or sandflies on the South Island, thanks to the mosquito nets on all windows and doors, we could comfortably cook, eat, and play without being eaten by insects—something we really appreciated in some areas! We would have loved to take our setup home with us at the end of our trip. The team at Kohi Campers was incredibly kind and helpful in organizing our trip. Thank you so much to David and James, you guys are amazing!!!Posted on Google Mike SheridanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Having fun with our Kohi Camper 600 ATVPosted on Google Geoff JacksonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My wife and I just completed a wonderful 2 week trip around the North Island NZ in a Kohi Camper. James and David from Kohi Campers were very helpful. They met on the morning of New Years day with the Camper all set to go. The Ford Ranger performed well and the Camper made our journey comfortable. We had a range of weather including rain, wind and heat and the Camper we great in all cases.Posted on Google Charles ComhaireTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dear Kohi Campers, Thank you so much for the incredible experience we had in New Zealand with the Ranger. It truly made our trip unforgettable. Exploring the country in the Ford Ranger allowed us to experience the islands as they really are rugged, wild, and authentic. I would wholeheartedly recommend renting a Kohi Camper to anyone who wants to go beyond the usual routes. With this vehicle, you can reach places that ordinary campers simply can’t, especially when it comes to that “last mile” of adventure. Wishing you all the best, and I hope to see you again soon. Warm regardsPosted on Google Holly VidovTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We rented the KOHI Camper for 7 days and explored the North Island! It was absolutely fantastic! From booking to pick up and drop off, James and the team communicated well and made sure we were all good to go for our trip. The ute/camper was a breeze on the windy NZ roads and it had everything we needed. We just filled the fridge and off we went! Would highly recommend and would rent again if we ever came back to NZ! Also got lots of looks and comments on the road, about how great the camper was from other travellers/locals! Cheers James & the team at KOHI Campers!Posted on Google Carmen MlodzinskiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Kohi camper is the perfect self sustaining ute camper! David and James hooked me up with a flatbed Ford Ranger with the Kohi Camper on top, and I cruised around for 3 weeks. The guys were super easy to work with, and have a laid back fun going mindset, and made getting the camper and returning the camper easy as pie! On pick up the camper was perfectly cleaned, and throughout the trip the entire unit did not fail one time! The solar panels, the fridge, water heater, water storage, stove, lighting, fans, and truck all ran perfectly and were very easy to use. The solar completely recharged the batteries by early morning on most days, and I never once was out of power. The water storage was enough to use for dishes, cleaning, and hot showers for days, and refill is simply an hose connection outside the vehicle, too easy. I was traveling alone, but you could very comfortable travel with 3-4 adults all sleeping soundly in the bed and foldable couch/bed. The truck runs very well on the highway, not much noise even with the camper, and the 4WD capability made off road adventures unlimited. The Kohi is the ultimate way to explore New Zealand. Peace of mind combined with ultimate outdoor off-road machine will provide you with the trip of a LIFETIME!Posted on Google ANDRES PRIETO GOMEZTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just finished an unforgettable week traveling around New Zealand with my dad thanks to Kohi slide-on camper rental! From the very first message, the team was incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive!! The slide-on camper setup was perfect for us: super comfortable, reliable, and easy to use, even for first-timers. It gave us the freedom to explore some stunning places while feeling right at home each night. Everything was clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully. 100% recommended. I’d do it again!!!Posted on Google Paul DecheringTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently took our new Kohi Camper for a tour over the South Island and it was such a pleasure to drive, park, use, fill up, and simply go wherever we wanted to go. The layout is well designed; the sleeping area is luxurious with top views of the surroundings and night sky. Driving is a breeze. We only take the space of a ute when parked up at the supermarket. Going off-road feels safe and allows us to have breaks and overnight stays at stunning places we would not be able to use with a larger van or caravan. At one time, we truly appreciated taking the camper off the ute so we could carry on over a height-limited dirt road to reach the beautiful arches and caves in the forest north of Karamea. We left the camper on the side of the road and picked it up on our return. We've been camping in small and larger caravans and campervans in the past; this Kohi Camper is our favourite. If you want to go from one place to the next without much planning, have a shower and a nice meal at the end of the day, and sleep comfortably, I can highly recommend the Kohi Camper. Last but not least, thanks, David and James, for your continuous support and advice. Your availability and input make a difference.Posted on Google Samra RayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David and James are professional and knowledgeable and have always been available to answer our endless questions. Great communication throughout the process and it was delivered on time. Definitely contact David or James if you are contemplating this great way of camping.Posted on Google Edward JamesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best and most convenient camper on the market. Had a great time exploring the North Island in the 600 ATV. Comfortable, spacious and affordable, suitable for families, couples and solo travellers who love outdoor adventures. Would highly recommend this product to anyone - you won’t regret it. The team are very professional and will look after all your needs.

No. For safety and insurance reasons, our rental campers must remain mounted to the vehicle throughout the hire period. This ensures a simple, reliable and hassle-free experience while travelling New Zealand. If you’re considering purchasing a Kohi Camper, the camper can be detached in under 10 minutes, allowing you to leave your campsite set up and use the ute independently
Adventure with confidence knowing every rental includes AA 24/7 Roadside Assistance for added peace of mind. From mechanical issues to camper-related support, help is never far away. Our team is also available throughout your journey to answer questions, provide advice and assist with anything needed, helping ensure your New Zealand adventure runs as smoothly as possible.
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for travel between. Our boutique fleet is limited and popular dates often book out months in advance. To avoid missing out, we suggest securing your camper 6 -12 months ahead for peak season travel and school holidays.
Our campers are built for adventure, but insurance cover applies to legal sealed and unsealed public roads only. Driving off-road, on beaches, or on private tracks voids your insurance cover. For exploring remote areas, the 4WD Ford Ranger and certified GVM suspension upgrade handle unsealed public roads with ease — there is plenty of incredible New Zealand accessible without leaving legal roads.
